Oxford

Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires" in reference to the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings. Other than the university (the oldest in the English speaking world) there are many other attractions to see :

• Bodleian Library - the largest university library in the UK and Europe's most beautiful room
• Oxford Botanic Gardens
• Museums including the Ashmolean, just opened after a £61m refurbishment

and stately homes just a few miles from the city centre :

• Blenheim Palace - one of the finest baroque houses in the country
• Waddesdon Manor - a French Renaissance chateau housing the Rothschild collection of art treasures
• Stonor Park - a 12th century house containing many bronzes, sculptures and tapestries
