Calke Abbey

Set in a beautiful landscape park, Calke Abbey is an illustration of the typical English country house in decline. Remedial work but no restoration has been done and interiors remain almost untouched since the 1880s. The National Trust manages the landscape park as a National Nature Reserve. It boasts a walled garden, an Orangery, auricula theatre, a flower garden and a former physic garden, now used as a kitchen garden.
