Zoos and animal parks
Roars, growls, tweets, hoots and slimy things
What could be better than a trip to the zoo for a great family day out? The UK has dozens of zoos to choose from.
For example, Norfolk’s Banham Zoo, rated in the country’s top 3 zoos by Which? magazine, has some of the world’s most exotic, rare and endangered animals including Siberian Tigers and Sri Lankan Leopards. Bristol Zoo Gardens, awarded `Zoo of the Year' in 2004, was the setting for the children's TV programme Animal Magic and has an amazing 400 species at the zoo from love beetles to lions.
If you’re a fan of chimps, then your family will go bananas at Monkey World in Dorset. Whipsnade Zoo in the Chiltern Hills, is one of the largest wild animal parks in Europe and is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild. And London Zoo is one of the world's oldest zoos and is home to over 800 different species.
